KUNSTPROSJEKT som presenteres:

"Gathering of the Hive: investigating the clustering behaviour of honeybees through art and swarm robotics.

Using an algorithm inspired by the clustering behaviour of young honeybees applied to a small ‘swarm’ of thymio robots, Haakon Haraldsen Roenand Vako Varankian, students from OsloMet - Oslo Metropolitan University, investigates how these forms of emergent, social mechanisms observed in nature can be be interpreted, adapted and illuminated with strategies at the intersection of art and IT.

Electric Rain av Asbjørn Blokkum Flø.
Rain as a resonant and climatic phenomena. The auditive qualities of rain can seem arbitrary, but there are complex systems involved; the distribution of each drops position, size and quantity are some of the many elements that affect the sound of rain. In the installation the resonant properties of rain are explored through a large number of sound-objects. One hundred individually controlled speakers are situated in the gallery space, enveloping the listener in a three dimensional and spatial soundscape. The soundscape is colored by the acoustic properties of the room and by the movement of visitors.

LEONARDO JOURNAL: THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY
Half a century ago, kinetic artist and astronautical pioneer Frank Malina set out to solve the needs of a community of artists and scientists working across disciplines by using the “new media” of the time: offset print publishing. As a groundbreaking, innovative venture, Leonardo journal represented a unique vision: to serve as an international channel of communication among artists, with emphasis on the writings of artists who use science and developing technologies in their work. The result was Leonardo, an academic journal for artists with the peer-review rigor of a scientific journal. For 50 years, Leonardo has been the definitive publication for artist-academics, and the field has gained momentum in recent years.

Leonardo/The International Society of Arts, Sciences and Technology
Today, documenting and capturing the creative innovators and provocateurs of culture is not enough. If media is the messenger, then we must expand our scope to represent the unique works and challenges we face in the 21st century. Leonardo/ISAST was created to address the rapidly expanding needs of the art, science and technology community, by participating in conferences, symposia, festivals, lecture series and awards programs, in addition to publishing. To fully realize our purpose and place over the next 50 years, we are opening our doors to community collaboration to inform our efforts to redesign our programs and mission to meet the needs of our audience. We are reaching out to pioneers, institutions, thought leaders and the curious in an effort to nurture the exploding art/science/technology global community.

As a network of networks, we are reimagining our future with you at the forefront. We invite you to come along with us on this journey of rediscovery and reinvention. Why? Because the ideas that lead to critical breakthroughs can come from any direction, and they don't take sides.

Leonardo's anniversary celebrations are made possible by our international partners and led by the 50th Anniversary Committee Chair Nina Czegledy.
